I do not take insurance. I am happy to provide statements and superbills upon request, and patients often submit them to their insurance and/or FSA/HSA for reimbursement.

Can acupuncture help me stop taking medications for sleep?
2
High-quality systematic reviews support the use of acupuncture, clinical Chinese herbal medicine and qi therapies to improve sleep quality. Clinical reviews have shown consistently that acupuncture can be as effective as or superior to certain conventional sleep medications in extending total sleep duration, without drug dependence; however, each person must be evaluated thoroughly and there are many factors to consider. We will address this in detail in during your intake.
How often will I need to come to acupuncture for it to work?

It is rare to treat something that took months and sometimes years to accumulate in a person’s physiology with one or two visits, because this medicine rebuilds from the root up. Acupuncture, especially combined with clinical herbal medicine, can be incredibly effective in addressing both acute and chronic conditions - including acute symptoms - when we’re a team and respect both your individual healing rhythm and consistency creates results.
We will discuss your treatment strategy and plan during your first visit based on your New Patient Comprehensive.
For example, a patient who has had chronic, premenstrual cramping for a year, they may come in once per week for one month to begin and sustain new shifts in the body. For another patient with premenstrual cramping for a year, they may require two or more visits per week for two to three weeks first, and taper off to once per week for twelve weeks.
Why do I need to take herbal medicine?
4
You do not need to take herbal medicine for acupuncture; however, for acute and chronic dermatological issues, more serious hormonal and digestive dysfunctions, and very acute symptoms like cold/flu-like systems, I will often prescribe custom herbal medicine to address immediate health concerns, and create long-lasting healing for prevention.
When taking herbal medicine it is imperative to know about herb-drug interaction with medication(s) and supplements you take.
We go over this thoroughly because your safety is my priority.
Additionally, clinical Chinese herbal medicine is not like taking supplements.
Prescription is often a necessary part of treatment to address immediate and chronic health concerns.
To do this takes many years of clinical training and experience, and incorporating this modality effectively is essential in my practice of TCM internal medicine.
